October 1- remember how i was telling you that Mutiny is a rad company? well they are. proof of this lies in the trailer to their new video "Stoked on being Pumped" which you can see at stokedonbeingpumped.com and it looks fancy. i got this fancy new traffic report stuff for this site and i'm going to test it out by throwing you a curve ball page: TPS Report. let's see how many people actually read this stupid site.
September 13- nothing new for you from me because i've been busy. i'm always busy. but to make up for it here is a trailer to a video that you will be buying sometime early next year: end search. compare your skills to those and then kill yourself. actually dont do that, just watch it and try to hold back your cries of "OOOOOHHHH" and "AAAHHHHH" as an exercise in stoicism.
September 6- no new pages for now, school takes priority. if/when i get some free time though, i'll spend it finishing up some more pages for all 5 of you readers (notice, that's up from the old 3). to tide you over, here is alex vidal with front tire roost and here is chris shewmake in one of those 'attack positions' you hear so much about. sweet screen grabs brought to you by the letter F.
September 2- The season finale (aka, last race if you hate the way the EEE sound is at the end of finale) for the mountain states cup is going on right now in Keystone. what's good about the race is that it's the end of the season so you're as hurt and banged up and tired as you can possibly be and then you have to go destroy yourself by going balls/ovaries out for 11+ minutes of dh racing. Dave Camp won the dual event yesterday with Ross Milan in 2nd, Kane in 3rd and B-Buell in 4th. big ups to Dave for killing it. Last year he qualified 3rd from last and came back to win it, having to borrow Boice's bike because Dave is too much of a death-smasher. this year he qualified first and ran a 2.5 intense front tire and flats. bloods for rife, crips are not very cool. here's another page of hate from wesley mandrake which 100% coincidentally features a photo of Dave Camp not racing.
August 27- as promised, things are changing pace with the pages by which i mean they are still being made slowly but now they have more words on them. win for some, loss for others of you. today we have our guest professional hater back in action, sir Wesley Mandrake in: Hatin' the Game.
August 25- things are busy here on things. how very descript. the next batch of pages will be different... when i get them done that is. here is a page about the glory days. road34 rip.
August 23- everyone knows everything these days thanks to the internet. yet, i still have to put up another half asked, lackluster, lazily assembled page today for all three of the readers and it just so happens to be the news that you internet savvy folks already knew months ago. since it's not really new i might as well call it olds instead of news. get it? that's a joke. news you might use.
August 21.5- we all know that myspace is for lame-ohs right? well since boredom is not above being lame, it's now on the miceface. myspace.com/boredommagazine - you can be the eFriend of an intangible thing like an online magazine which doesnt even follow that format anymore. that is what the future looks like and it's scary. spread the word so that the profile can have more than two friends so that it's at least ePopular enough to not be picked on at school.
August 21- sorry about the down time, server had a drive crash. everything should be back and working now. the g3 race went off this weekend in sol vista and the olsen won it, consistency is key people. there is some new stuff in the works for boredom right now but it's all in very early prototype stages. if anything works out, you'll be seeing it soon. but for now, here is that other fix jump jam page. next few pages will have very little to do with shredding of the gnar. lifestyle stuff in the pipeline next. so if you dont like reading, maybe just come back in 12 days.
August 17- no updates till monday because i'm going to a trials comp. that's right, the one all year basically. i'm probably not going to win it and i'm missing the g3 at sol vista which is a kick in the pants. i'll leave you with another page though and part two will be up when i get home: the Fix Jump Jam 07.
August 15- who doesnt love waking up to a shoulder full of popcorn? here's another page: Teva Mtn Games 2. ps- check out the center shot of andy from 970biking.com and how flat his three-table is. i'd set my drink there knowing it wouldn't spill. yeah, i went there.
August 14- it's amazing what you can get done if you wake up early. such as cut in an illegal 10 turn solo slalom track in your pseudo-backyard before you have to get to work. if anyone in boulder wants to come help me burn it in, let me know. and here is another page: Teva Mtn Games 1.
August 13- here is a fake ad for a thing that doesnt exist featuring former child star chris boice being a badass.
August 10th Bonus- There is still a lot of debate these days about wheel size. it seems like a cop-out to say that it's not the size it's how you use it but that's kind of true. 29"ers are lame mostly because of the 'yuppie bastard' that dominates that market. these are wifi equipped coffee shop aficionados that just happen to have an extra 5 grand to blow on a 4th bike that they think let's them roll over anything on the trail and due to them not actually having any bike handling skills, they dont seem to miss good tires and ability to turn the bike. 24" wheels are lame mostly because of the whole canada thing- huckers launching themselves and their 3.0 gazzi tires off dumb flat lipped ladders and so called street riders who wouldnt have the balls to ride a bmx bike to the grocery store and back. i just so happen to fall into that second division of people who are too scared to ride a real street bike. i also have a trials background so i am inherently a pansy ass when it comes time to going into anything fast. what does all this have to do with boredom magazine? nothing really except that this video never got posted here and looking back on it, i see an off season full of lots of laughs and good times shared with friends on bikes searching back alley ways and new city blocks looking for something to ride that wasnt too big so we wouldnt get too hurt. i dont remember that we were riding 24" wheels and how lame that probably is. i remember the jokes and looking forward to the next weekend's ride all week long. i remember that riding bikes is pretty trivial and silly in the first place so why give a shit what size your wheels are so long as your having fun. right click and save as if you want to see some really lame but really fun stuff. check back some time soon for more pages of the normal stuff.
August 10- mountain biking photography is totally awesome in the sense that you get screwed a bunch. here's another page: My Year on the Road 6. that's the last for that "article" so now you'll get a bunch of small ones. yay for the internet.
August 8- when was the last time you thought you were watching a video game but it turned out to be real? probably when you watched the new Etnies video- Grounded. it's silly. here's another page: My Year on the Road 5.
August 7- go ride bikes, it's seriously way more fun that riding your keyboard on the forums. and here is another page: My Year on the Road 4.
August 6- big gnarly bruises might be impressive but apparently they dont automatically make you a chick magnet. take note of that kiddos. here's another page: My Year on the Road 3.
August 3- boredom is almost moved in completely and the old house is almost clean. and now for another page: My Year on the Road 2.
August 1- new digs for the boredom staff. and here is another page for you: My Year on the Road 1.
July 31- New way of doing things, pages as they are finished. sorry. here's the "cover" of " issue 4"... "quotes" and more things will be up after I'm done moving later this week. I promise and ePinky swear so you know I mean business. Supplemental info for today's page- Joey Schusler, aka Super Joey Schusler, aka Shoey Juice-ler, aka Calves McGee riding his bike through a rocky turn somewhere in the sticks of Colorado. The shot was taken about 7 minutes after a particularly scary looking over-the-bar crash but that didnt phase him a bit and he hiked back up to show the ground who's in charge by returning the pain via some roosty tire placement.
July 9- happy summer, would be readers. i say would be because if i had any free time to work on the magazine you would be reading it right now. but i dont. so you arent.
June 28- Back from MSA and shot nothing but video. Lots of good video of people going too damn fast. in other news boredom now has a contact: BoredomMagazine at gmail.com so if you feel the need to say something to the Boredom staff, send it there.
June 19th- The Boredom Magazine staff is packed up and headed off to Quebec to get the skinny on the Mont St Anne world cup round. Things will be busy so dont expect updates, though you weren't anyways so that's alright. Do expect some sort of coverage though in issue 4 and do expect footage from the race to show up in a little video project that will be out late this year/early next year.
from the previous post- I've got gold, cyan, and avacado on top of the standard white/black/red stickers. Please do let us know if you want any weird colored stickers, I'll get them made up soon. email requests to kevin at ripstoke dot com.
NEW!! with caps and exclamation points! Introducing the Boredom Blog-o-rama. Some (all) have suggested that this site is dead and that it shouldnt take 8 months to do another issue. Well, it doesnt. It takes like 10 months. But in order to fake some freshness around here, we've introduced the Blog-o-rama. It's like a normal blog but with way more o-rama to it.
Topics of freshness:
-I'm thinking of doing another run of stickers so if anyone has any special color requests, let me know and I'll do it up if I can.
-Tee shirts are also a possibility...
-Issue 4 is actually being worked on right now and should be up soon with some really hip new fonts and stuff.
